Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Ceres public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Military Appreciation Committee revival
The council brought back the veterans-honoring committee that dissolved over banner disputes, with five citizens, two councilmembers, and the Recreation Manager — and a rule that any General Fund spending comes back to the council.
River Bluff Soccer Complex Conditions and Field Fees
The youth soccer league president said the fields are unsafe — dirt, holes, fence-jumpers — and complained that Ceres kids pay $25 each while out-of-town leagues pay almost nothing. The city manager agreed to investigate and meet with the league.
Park Use Restricted to Recreational Purposes
Parks are now formally for recreation; camping and conduct that interferes with other users can draw a misdemeanor citation up to a $1,000 fine. Staff stressed it targets conduct, not housing status.
Parks Restricted to Recreational Use
A companion ordinance would limit use of city parks to recreational purposes only, targeting non-recreational activity in public parks. It was set for public hearing alongside the camping ban.
